Poitín (Whiskey) Demonstration and Tasting
Plan a great artisan experience at Molly Gallivan’s Cottage and Traditional Farm. Discover the history, folklore, and culture associated with Poitín,
Deeply rooted in the story and songs of rural Ireland, Poitín is essentially an Irish version of moonshine.
The tradition of Poitín at Molly Gallivans exists for more than 200 years and may well be the birth place of the famous Irish song “Whiskey in the Jar”.
Molly Gallivan sold her homemade Poitín under the name of “Molly’s Mountain Dew.” Against this backdrop, enjoy a demonstration showing how Poitín is made, followed by a tasting of “the blessed spirit.” (Time:30min)
