Come and enjoy one of our guided tours where we will bring you back in time on a journey through Molly Gallivan’s Cottage & Traditional Farm.

Molly’s Cottage & Traditional Farm

Begin your visit at Molly’s Cottage, where you’ll experience the traditional craft of Irish soda bread making, baked over the open fire. Learn how butter was made in the past. You’ll then be guided through Molly’s Traditional Farm, where you can explore historic farm machinery and various points of interest such as the lime kiln, the well and the farmyard. Our guides will also share the historical and astronomical significance of the Neolithic Stone Row located on the land.

Ancient Relics, Turf Cutting & Farm Animals

Continue your journey through the relics and ruins linked to the famine era, with stories that bring the past to life. On Molly’s Farm, we’ll also demonstrate traditional turf (peat) cutting using hand tools known as slanes. Turf was the main source of heat in Molly’s Cottage and we show you how it makes its way from the bog and how it’s turned into fuel for the open fire. You’ll also get the chance to meet and enjoy the company of our friendly farm animals, on this fun guided tour.

Poitín (Whiskey) Making & Tasting

Round off your visit with a wild Irish poitín (whiskey) making demonstration at Molly Gallivan’s Poitín Still. Molly distilled her own renowned spirit here on the farm. Using fermented potatoes or barley, she created a drink known as “Molly’s Mountain Dew”. We’re keeping the tradition alive and you’re invited to try out poitín here at the farm. A unique and memorable way to end your visit to Molly Gallivan’s.
