The Sheen Valley Heritage Area comprises 80 square km of breath-taking beauty and amazing history.  The valley has one of the greatest concentrations of historical and prehistoric monuments in Western Europe.

At Molly Gallivans we offer guided walks and tours in the Sheen Valley. Molly Gallivans is the Trail Head for 3 Failte Ireland National Loop Walks. The walks consists of different gradients. Your guide who is also a local Seanachaí (story teller), will recall tales and mythology associated with the many historical sites in the area.

Sheen Valley Heritage Tour

Stone CircleOur guided heritage tour incorporates some of the most unique historic & pre-historic sites in Ireland, including Ring Forts, Stone Circles, a Fulacht Fiaddh and the Mass Rock at Inse an tSagairt which was used to celebrate mass during penal times (1539-1829).

You will also visit Irelands oldest Cemetery, the cemetery was originally associated with a nearby 5000 year old Bullaun stone, locally known as the “ The Rolls of Butter”.  Learn the story of how it has recently been discovered that the wells carved into the rock are a ground image of stars on the Orion constellation and its possible links with the Egyptian Pyramids.Rolls of Butter

Also included is a chocolate lovers dream with a trip to our local chocolate factory where you can sample some award winning chocolates and be treated to a delicious hot chocolate.

Your guide will relate the tales and folklore associated with all the sites and explain the amazing astronomical significance related to them.
